Three years ago, Lucid Cafe Bali opened its doors with a fairly simple idea: create a place where people could enjoy good food, good coffee, and feel comfortable staying a little longer.
At the time, we didn’t really know where that idea would take us. We started small, learned as we went, met our first regulars, and slowly watched Lucid become part of people’s everyday routines. Some came for breakfast before work, some stopped by for coffee, some stayed for hours with friends, and others simply kept coming back until their faces became familiar to the team.
Looking back now, those ordinary moments are probably what shaped Lucid the most.
Three Years Later, Everything Looks A Little Different
On 1 October 2026, Lucid celebrated its 3rd Anniversary — and for the first time, we celebrated it in our new home in Puri Gading.
It was a very different sight from where we started. The new café was filled with people, with tables occupied, conversations happening everywhere, food coming out of the kitchen, coffee constantly being poured, and familiar faces appearing alongside many people visiting Lucid for the first time.
The crowd was certainly bigger than anything we had experienced at our previous location, but what made the day meaningful wasn’t simply the size of it. It was seeing so many different parts of Lucid’s three-year journey gathered in one place.
Some people had been with us from the beginning. Others had discovered us only recently. Some came with their families, some with friends, and some simply came because someone had told them about Lucid.
For a moment, the new space didn’t feel so new anymore.
A Café Is Built in More Ways Than One
Moving to Puri Gading was a big chapter for Lucid. We spent months sharing the process through our Road to Puri Gading series — from the early construction stages and endless decisions to the finishing touches and finally opening the doors.
We thought a lot about what the new café needed to have: more space, a bigger kitchen, more tables, and a better environment for families and groups.
But after seeing it filled with people on our anniversary, we realised that the space itself was only one part of the story.
A café becomes what it is because of what happens inside it.
The conversations, the celebrations, the quick coffees, the long lunches, the birthdays, the familiar greetings, the staff who remember a customer’s usual order, and all those little moments that probably don’t seem important at the time.
Over three years, there have been countless moments like these at Lucid. And together, they have slowly turned a café into something that feels much more familiar.
So Maybe This Is What We’ve Been Building All Along

Looking around the café that day, we realised that the biggest part of our 3rd Anniversary wasn’t the celebration itself. It was seeing the space filled with people who had, in one way or another, become part of Lucid’s story.
Three years ago, we were simply building a café. Today, we have a place filled with familiar faces, new friendships, shared meals, everyday conversations, and memories we never planned.
Maybe this is what we’ve been building all along.
Not just a café, but a place people can call part of their day.
That, more than anything, is what made our 3rd Anniversary feel special.
Three Years Down, And We’re Just Getting Started
Three years has brought Lucid plenty of changes. We’ve grown, moved, learned, made mistakes, tried new things, met countless people, and now found ourselves starting a new chapter in Puri Gading.
But underneath all of that, the simple idea remains the same.
We still want Lucid to be a place where good food is shared, good coffee is enjoyed, and people feel comfortable being themselves.
So to everyone who has been part of the journey — whether you’ve been visiting since our first year, discovered us recently, recommended us to a friend, celebrated something with us, worked alongside us, or simply spent a few hours at one of our tables — thank you.
Our 3rd Anniversary was only one day, but it gave us a chance to appreciate the three years behind it.
And now that the celebration is over, the café is back to what it does best: opening its doors, making coffee, cooking food, welcoming people, and creating whatever little moments come next.
Who knows what the 4th Anniversary will look like?
For now, we’ll simply keep building.
See you at Lucid. 🤍
